A Fitter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems and components in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering environments. The role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and machinery, with a focus on precision and safety.

• Assembly & Installation: Assemble and install mechanical components, ensuring correct fitting and operational performance based on engineering drawings.
• Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical faults, and carry out emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
• Inspection & Testing: Inspect and test machinery to ensure proper functioning, using tools like gauges and meters to verify performance.
• Blueprint Reading & Documentation: Read and interpret technical drawings, clarify specifications, and maintain records of work, including time, materials, and repairs.
• Tool Handling: Use hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments to cut, shape, and fit components, ensuring proper maintenance and safe usage.
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety standards, wear PPE, and report hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
• Quality Control: Ensure work meets quality and precision standards, performing final checks to ensure all components are correctly aligned and functional.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with engineers and team members, communicating progress and providing guidance to junior staff.
• Problem Solving: Diagnose mechanical issues and provide solutions using diagnostic tools and experience.
