Welder Roles and Responsibilities:
- Welding and Fabrication:
- Weld metal parts using techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick) per project specifications.
- Read blueprints and welding symbols to determine welding methods.
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal pieces with welding machines and hand tools.
- Inspection and Quality Control:
- Inspect welds for quality and compliance with standards.
- Perform non-destructive tests (visual, ultrasonic, x-ray) to check weld integrity.
- Ensure work meets industry codes (AWS, ASME).
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Safely operate welding machines and torches.
- Maintain and clean welding tools and equipment.
- Set up equipment as per job requirements.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Follow safety protocols and use PPE (helmets, gloves, flame-resistant clothing).
- Maintain a safe work environment by reporting hazards.
- Material Handling:
- Prepare materials by cleaning, cutting, and grinding surfaces.
- Ensure proper storage and availability of materials.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work with other welders, engineers, and supervisors to meet project goals.
- Communicate job progress and challenges with clients and team members.
- Repairs and Modifications:
- Repair damaged structures or parts by welding.
- Modify components to improve functionality and durability.
