Course Objective :

Month – 1
Course Content :
- Introduction to EV
- Overview of Electric Vehicles in India
- Vehicle Dynamics
- Functions of various components related to operation of EV (motor, controller, charging unit, braking system, suspension, chassis, etc)
- Various systems and sub-systems (power train, chassis, Safety System)
- Fundamental of Drives and Power Electronics for DC Drives
- Basics of Induction Motor and V/f Control
Practical :
- Understanding basic instruments, gauges, components of EV
- Repair, and maintenance of general vehicle systems
- Various systems and sub systems of vehicle
- Operation and Testing of Electrical system, motor, electric transmission and propulsion system.
- Diagnosis and troubleshoot of electrical components of EV and ascertain repair.
Month -2
Course Content :
- Function and Specification of Electric Vehicle components
- (Motor, Motor Controller, Battery Pack, Battery Management System, Charging System, regenerative braking etc)
- Performance of EV
- Fundamentals of EV Battery Pack design
- Battery Charging and Swapping
Practical :
- Practical on electric, electronic and EV systems
- DC/DC convertor, regenerative braking, HVAC/FATC etc.
- EV symbols, switches, control units and communication protocols
- Disassemble and assemble of various components of EV.
- Usage of different fasteners and hand tools.
- Fault finding & breakdown maintenance of related components and systems
- Repair, testing and diagnosing of the total systems and related circuits
- Preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Job Roll:
Mechanic Electric Vehicle – Repairs, overhauls and services motor vehicles and to keep them in good running condition. Examines vehicle to ascertain nature and location of defects either by running or driving vehicle on road. Responsible for the repair and routine servicing and maintenance of EV.
Learning Outcome :
- Identify and handle different types of tools and workshop equipment in the Auto workshop following safety precautions.
- Check, identify and interpret different types of vehicles and their specifications.
- Trace and Test all Electrical, Electronic components & circuits and assemble circuit to ensure functionality of the EV system by using electrical measuring instruments.
- Diagnose, Check and repair Electric vehicle components and Performance of EV vehicles (Components of Electric Vehicle such as Motor, Motor Controller, Battery Pack, Battery Management System, Charging System etc.)
- Test and troubleshoot Accessory and Auxiliary Components – Power Steering, Braking and HVAC Comfort System.
- Operate and troubleshoot Electric Vehicle Charging Ecosystem.
- Drive an Electric Vehicle following the safety rules for driving.
- Demonstrate regulatory requirements for electric vehicle and new trends in electric vehicle.
